Where did Western Civilization come from? Here's the story of its origin, as told by HBD Chick and summarized by me, at my blog:

http://jayman.blog.com/2012/04/28/an-hbd-summary-of-the-foundations-of-modern-civilization/.

That statement is the very definition of an oxymoron.

The following salient which means notable excerpt from my post 280908Z APR12 clearly explains the fallacy of your reasoning and should rid you once and for all of the notion that sports is somehow marginalized when it comes to the betterment of the human condition and other things like that. You need to come correct Rockparkman, and as always, thanks for your active participation in The Rise of Western Civilization thread.

So which is it? Do guns kill people or do people kill people with guns?

By the logic you've displayed on this subject it's clear that you blame the tool for the damage done by the person wielding it and thus believe guns kill people. HBD is merely a tool, and one which does not necessarily serve to control or kill people. Instead it can serve, with other sociological theories, to provide a deeper understanding of our behavior on the macro scale. I can't say I'm sold on the conclusions they draw, but to dismiss those conclusions out of hand is simply ignorant.

I disagree. Has Steve Sailer ever offered counter arguments for any reason other than to refute them? And theres too much emphasis on the negative HBD characteristics of non-whites. And what about the biological principle that generic diversity is superior? That doesn't seem to come up often with HBDers from what I've seen. I don't read them often so maybe I'm wrong.

I don't really see the wisdom in that. First, certainty can't really be attained without putting knowledge out there for more research to be done to test the ideas.

As well, thanks to genomic sequencing we pretty much are as certain as we reasonably expect to be, as genetic links to behavioral differences have been found. Even if all the other pieces of evidence are tentative individually, the genetic links serve as a proof-of-concept that essentially validates the rest.

Even then, if you fear that the knowledge would be misused if it were out, then what difference would the added certainty bring, other than to embolden whatever misuse you have in mind?

Has Steve Sailer ever offered counter arguments for any reason other than to refute them?

Yes, there are plenty of unknowns. And even if the "HBD'ers" themselves don't offer counter arguments, there are plenty of detractors out there to do the job—who indeed serve a useful purpose, as they perform essential criticism to allows to be more certain of our conclusions.

And theres too much emphasis on the negative HBD characteristics of non-whites.

I agree. I am more than happy to point out the flaws of Whites, and the strengths of other groups where relevant. Most of the HBD crowd is a right-leaning group and too much conservative rubbish gets mixed in (not to mention the actual White nationalists and racists in the crowd).

And what about the biological principle that generic diversity is superior?

Well that depends on the context. In terms of robustness against unknown environmental changes/calamities, most races have enough genetic variability within them to accomplish that goal. As well, individuals from all races have contributed positively thanks their group-typical strengths (some more than others).

Yeah, I'd say that's true. HBD does seem to be gripped by the same sort of ethnocentric confirmation bias that lead us down the road to environmental determinism being the go-to sociological theory despite excusing a whole host of simply racist practices prior to WWII.

But of course even if HBD is just environmental determinism in its most evolved form and it turns out to be every bit as incorrect as its predecessor, that does not excuse Olog's hypocritical dismissal of it on the grounds that the tool is to be blamed for its use.

Hopefully this HBD stuff doesn't catch on. Apartheid and forced segregation could be next.

Despite accepting HBD as a sensible theory to explain certain issues, I'd concur with your statement. It's one of those things that you really can't trust the average person with.

High bone density can indeed explain certain issues.

I basically "believe" in HBD but I find it bleak and wish it weren't true.

There are times where reading certain posts and comments in the HBDsphere makes one want to grab hard liquor and drink until one blacks out. Mind you, it's a different issue for those of us who are on the wrong side of the racial spectrum.

I'm afraid it's the other way around, when the Democrats lost in 2000, they went on this partisan campaign, which did shit sides in 2008, but continues. YOu obviously forgot what the left was like from 2000-2008.
