True, although the rumor about Black Forest Ham is that it's smoked over pine.

Believe it or don't, Black Forest Ham is smoked over fir.

Sure ain't smoked over the resiny shit we have in the northeast. Always get a kick out of chimney fires caused by moe-rons burning 2 x 4's in their fireplace. :)

If you smoke with pine, not only does it taste bad, but it will fill your firebox with tar and turpentine (which is how you make both substances).

I'll stick with hickory.

Prestressed concrete still very expensive. Wood just as relevant today as back then; certainly beat the original stone ties.
