That wasn't the Secret Service's fault. The WH party crashers were approved by the White house social Office, "because they looked like they belonged there". You'd be astounded at the number of events I've been to in recent years, where I've seen people slip through security using just that very principle. A Ricky Martin stalker actually made it all the way to the Green Room where he and I were waiting to go on stage (I was presenting him with an award)...because the stalker "looked like he belonged"...complete with a tux!Mind you, when I met President Obama last year, going through Secret Service security was easier than going to the airport...of course, I had to send them my bona fides and pedigree in advance, but still...if you look like you're "supposed" to be in a place, you'd be surprised how far you can get sometimes...I had a friend, years ago, who always wanted to meet Will Smith. He got his chance when Will was at the Waldorf for some kind of benefit. He dressed up as a busboy, and even got his picture taken with the actor! |

Gets better ...Secret Service agents sent to Colombia ahead of President Obama were sent home amid allegations of misconduct, CNN reports. "The incident -- reportedly related to involvement with prostitutes in Cartagena -- overshadowed the start of the sixth Summit of the Americas, where the president was to focus on trade, energy and regional security." Ronald Kessler, author of In the President's Service, said it's "the biggest scandal in Secret Service history." According to Kessler, "One of the agents did not pay one of the prostitutes, and she complained to the police." |
