Welllll ... if you were hanging out in the seedy part of Troy as you claim, most of the trailers around there got jacked ages ago. You've gotta get out into East Greenbush or the surrounding burghs to see those. And as to over in Albany county, those are out west of Guilderland and into Schoharie ... those too are strongly republican areas. So you're really not winning here, son ... and as for the rednecks around here, yep. And as crazy as some of them are, they're a lot better behaved than you are. |

Prostitution is already illegal in the United States, and we're still stuck with the problem of the mafia and pimps running prostitution rings. Provide the legal frame work for prostitution to allow the service, while creating the regulations to keep out the criminals. Personally, I just don't see it as victimless. Criminalization creates the victims that you're fearing... |

In Amsterdam, legalization does not protect the sex workers. It protects the customers. The girls are still subject to being infected with diseases as the customers are not tested. They are subject to being addicted to drugs in order to maintain them as prostitutes and they may fall victim to organized crime. So let us drop the illusion that prostitution is victimless. |

The girls are still subject to being infected with diseases as the customers are not tested. It's admittedly a risk, but it's something that the women who go into the industry understand as a risk. It's not much different than understanding that police officers are liable to being shot by criminals or fire fighters dying in a fire. They are subject to being addicted to drugs in order to maintain them as prostitutes And there are some people who resort to alcohol and drugs due to the stress from their jobs. Do we ban stressful jobs? So let us drop the illusion that prostitution is victimless. Again, that is still a victimless crime as they're not hurting anybody other than themselves. It may be a risky profession, but a woman who chooses to engage in this profession in a country where it is legal is not a victim. |

Police officers and fire fighters are highly trained and well equipped for their jobs. Their risks are minimized.Stressful jobs might or might not cause a person to turn to drugs and those that do are often referred to counseling but prostitutes are often hooked on drugs to insure their pliability and continued employment. I noticed that you did not respond to the criminal element that often involves itself in the sex trade. That criminality includes kidnapping and sex enslavement. And the solution to that is to legalize the process, provide safe, regulated places to permit prostitution, while chasing out the bad actors who kidnap women, trick them, enslave them, and drug them. Otherwise, if we continue to keep prostitution illegal, we'll be stuck with the problems that you're fearing, except magnified further given that the demand for prostitutes while reduced will always be there, and the bulk of that demand will fuel profits for criminal element instead of going to the women. Police officers and fire fighters are highly trained and well equipped for their jobs. Their risks are minimized. And yet, that risk is there. Coincidentally, we can also minimize the risks with condoms, and encouragement of frequent testing for sexually active men and women regardless of their participation in prostitution. |
