Don't count Romney out yet. Santorum is no economic ultra-conservative either. His "I voted for No Child Left Behind even though I opposed it" shows him to be just like Romney.

Isn't Krugman the clown who recently said that there are advantages to a single-party political system? Or was that Friedman, the other nitwit at the Times?

The Times columnists are as biased against the right as Fox News is against the left. Don't quote one if you don't consider the other to be authoritative.

That was Friedman, and you are believing Olog's selective quoting. What Friedman said was that China's one-party system was the second-worst system a country could have.

I see you don't dispute the actual statement made by Romney. You try to discredit the story by discrediting the messengers.

Well, if the facts are true, it doesn't matter if the messenger is Stalin or Mao himself.

"Well, if the facts are true, it doesn't matter if the messenger is Stalin or Mao himself."

That is exactly the defense that Dan Blather used during the flap about the forged documents relating to Bush's Texas Air National Guard service. Remember? Rather said that as long as the "facts" were true about Bush getting special treatment in the Texas Air National Guard, it didn't matter that the facts were recorded on documents that were not authentic.

The problem with that line of thinking is that it blurs the distinction between "fact" and "truth". A "fact" is something that no one can dispute, such as the rising of the sun in the east and setting in the west. "Truth" is a matter of interpretation and belief and depends heavily on who is doing the interpretation.

That defense didn't help Mary Mapes and it didn't help Blather, either.

No, that wasn't in the Treaty of Lisbon; the Soziale Marktwirtschaft is; and Ireland was stupid enough to give up its currency to the elitists' artifice. And the USA fell apart by not sticking with SSE (our lovely "free trade agreements" that have nothing to do with it) . . . funny enough, China's following supply-side principles by keeping their capital-gains taxes lower than ours . . .

You mean like this one?

Deal with it.

"A new poll from Rasmussen shows President Obama with sizable leads in hypothetical matchups against either of the leading Republican candidates, with Obama besting Mitt Romney by 7 points and Rick Santorum by 6 points.

"That's a far stronger showing for the president than a similar poll from Gallup released Friday, which showed Romney with a 4-point lead on Obama and the president leading Santorum by a single percentage point.

"What accounts for the numbers swing discrepancy is unclear, although the Rasmussen poll had a larger sample size — 1500 respondents compared to 898 for Gallup — and was taken more recently."
