Obama: let's use algae instead of oil |

Any other audience would have laughed hysterically. |

What a fucking moron. This lowers home heating oil costs, how exactly? Or do we have to now buy a new $45,000 algae burner to use the new fuel. Oh yeah, there'll be a $500 a year tax credit for alternate fuels for families making under $30,000 but who own houses over 3,000 sq. ft. And his buddies in the algae-fuel business will all get rich. |

You left out this part:""We're not going to transition out of oil anytime soon," Obama added, before touting the record high domestic gas production right now and the agreement with Mexico to drill in the Gulf of Mexico, while still calling for expanded investment in alternative energy." |

What I like about you guys is that you just ignore the facts. There is no dispute that natural gas production is at very high levels. You just ignore it because it happens to be occurring during a Democratic administration. It just doesn't fit your story.http://205.254.135.24/oil_gas/natural_gas/data_publications/eia914/eia914.html |

First off, it doesnt disprove his comment as possible/not possibleSecond, it's agriculture almost at the scale of our food production. Acreage of the size of South Carolina? How about acreage the size of Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska Kansas, North and South Dakota. And the water that is used to produce crops there. I don't see it as cost effective/viable either but it's not nearly as laughable as the right likes to paint it. your pal, Fred |
