They signed off on defective mortgages even though they KNEW they shouldn't have. |

You have no idea how much worse the economy would be if it hadn't been for the tax cuts and spending stimulus. President McCain would have done the same. |

I believe that a man is only as good as his word. This president promised that if he didn't fix the economy in 3 years he'd be a one term president. He's failing to keep his word. |

He made it his cause because he can sell it to the less educated as a plus. Lets also remember that its not the $1000 across the board as promised. It's 2% off of your FICA contribution so if you are making $30,000 your FICA drops just $600 and not the $1,000 that this president is tossing around so happily. That's just $12 per week or less than enough to make up for the difference in what a tank of gasoline is now costing. More happy horseshit form the clown at 1600. |

Mine was a little more positive. Actually, YTD my 401K is up over 6% this year. It looks good on paper but one has to remember the last year of the Bush Administration and the last 3 of the obama experiment. I'm not ready to go out on Main St and bang pots together. |

If you were watching Obama's speech in front of a group of community college students two weeks ago, you might have noticed that Obama carefully avoids saying "American dream". Instead, he talked about the "American promise". |

Also, that's household income. So there's plenty of room for quibbling, but basically it sounds like it was a reasonable statement. |
