When we were going up in the elevator one bellhop told another that he had to take something up to a room for "Mr. Abbie Hoffman." I thought he was making a joke, like there was some long-haired hippie looking guy staying there. I asked him "the guy looks like Abbie Hoffman, huh?". He said, "that's his name. Is he somebody famous?"I tried to mention other radicals, but neither kid knew them either. My wife said "he was one of the Chicago Seven." THAT the kid knew, or pretended to. |
