I had the option of going that route, but I chose to fight back through the "Turtle Soup" series instead. I know others here who are saving every attack the turtle bestows on them and compiling a file for their lawyers. Some people are really fed up.You don't see it because you have never been the target of the Turtle's venom. BTW - tell me how anonymous you really are on this board? I always get a chuckle out of NYC residents and their "1-800-BUTTHURT" solutions - you have to prove monitary damage with enough of a margin for the lawyer to pocket enough to even bother filing. That threshhold is usually well in excess of $50,000 or no sale even if that attorney is your uncle.Sometimes a good beating is the proper solution to retards. It DOES make them stop, at least for a little while. :) |

Now if someone has resources and wants to make a point he could spend $50k on a lawyer to win a nominal jury award of $1 just for the sake of the principle... I actually know someone like that but he is not a subchatter :(Interesting though that insurance companies are now selling "bloggers policies". $1k per year buys you a million dollar liability policy if you slander or libel someone on the net |

"social networking" background checks are the rage now and we're required to do them because of our government contracts ... I forget the name of the companies we use since I don't handle that stuff. We can even pull socials and SIM card numbers if we go for a full report. And both pull subchat posts after tying an alias to the real person if we didn't already have them tied to begin with. Since employers are responsible for harassment on-site and off-site, everybody is doing this now. |

The way it works is aliases are often used in more than one place. Tie it to an email address somewhere (or a forum panel ip address) and away you go. Facebook though is the goldmine. They do all the work for the trackers and sell the information cheap. |

However, most forums do publish the IP on the bottom under posts, and if the same handle is used on those and the characteristics of posts match, then you can grab that there. Verizon (who Larry is using) sells their records to any and all comers such as private detectives and Lexis/Nexis. But such tracking does require correlating several sites in order to tie them together.Terrorpin hangs out on DSLReports and they're rather promiscuous. Forums run on Phpbb and other commercial forum software are easily hacked to give up moderator rights and all the data is right there. Bottom line is that if you really want to track somebody, it's real easy and many businesses are in the business of doing just that. Facebook is the big one though since facebook follows you wherever you go. Cookies are also useful since google ads are everywhere and that cookie IS you. |
