That's the kind of stuff that drives me crazy. I can see if it causes a nuisance with traffic, parking, etc....but I have no patience when it concerns out there religious beliefs. People riding their bikes, wearing whatever is legal for the city have EVERY right to do so, just as they have every right to wear wool black winter coats in 90 degree summer heat. |

My cousin works for a bank in Monsey. While there are no signs like this here, Jewish control over almost everything is near absolute. Despite employing not a single Jew, the bank closes before sundown on Friday and is always closed on Saturdays. Many other local businesses close for the Sabbath, regardless if it's owned by an observant Jew or not, because the locals will not patronize you if you don't. |

Old meaning the neighborhood was established/built in the 1870s making it one of the oldest neighborhoods outside of the Old City of Jerusalem? I'm not sure when the current structures date to, but a lot of their run down appearance is on account of the fact the people who live there don't really give much attention to anything besides learning Torah and popping out children. And on occasion throwing stones at immodestly dressed women, Sabbath violators, and the police, burning trash cans. |
