Those fatality rates greatly outnumber our high murder rates.I agree with you that the multiracial nature of the US lops a few months off the average. It should also be noted that once one reaches the age of 65 in the US, our life expectancy rates equal or exceed Europe's. Guess why that is? |

Sorry, the road deaths doesn't add up to your claim. Our rate is lower than that of Europe, or at least almost the same. Our injury rate is higher, but their fatality rate is the higher. Our people recover better if we are in an accident: Yes, this is from 1998, the most I could find in a quick search, however, I don't think anything major occurred on either side to change it exponentially different. |

The time from diagnosis to treatment for Americans with health insurance for things like cancer, heart surgery, etc. is supposedly much faster in the US than nearly anywhere else. From personal observation from living there, I would say that it's a deadly mix of:smaller, less safe vehicles, high or non-existent speed limits (and lax enforcement of existing ones), a much higher percentage of motorcyclists/scooters compared to the US and in some countries a somewhat ho-hum attitude to drunken driving by law enforcement. Their large older cities are also a lot more dangerous to pedestrians than newer American cities. that's just off the top of my head. |
