This was not a drilling rig, there's no well here to leak. All 13 workers on it have been accounted for. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2010/09/wdsu-oil-rig-explosion-in-gulf-off-louisiana/1 |

This was not a drilling rig, there's no well here to leak. There is a well. Production Platforms bring up the oil from wells that have already been drilled. Drilling Rigs drill the wells and then are moved away to make room for a Production Platform. So there is a well that could leak. I don't believe this is a deep water well, if that is the case it should not be difficult to shut down any leak that is going on. |

From what I am reading, this platform is handling crude piped in from a nearby source. There's no leaking well, there's leaking pipes. |

If the explosion was in engine room of rig the sheen may very well be just fuel oil for the rig.from initial pictures it does not appear there is much damage to rig itself |

CNN has confirmed this. There is no leaking well, the oil sheen comes from onboard stores which leaked out due to the explosion. All the wells feeding this production rig have been safely shut down. |

CNN can still do quality work with breaking stories. Yesterday it was the only news channel which did not break away from the Discovery Channel shootings for regularly scheduled partisan opinion programs. From 5 PM to 8 PM, CNN is the ONLY cable news channel which does actual news. |

Given what shitheads they have left for their news production these days, that's particularly damning for all the others. :( |
