If the reports that this guy is an environmentalist wacko, it's the irony of ironies that he's targeting Discovery, a channel which has done about as much as any other to advance global warming hysteria.BTW, Discovery and it's sister stations are broadcasting normally. American Chopper is currently on the mother channel. |

I used to live just 1 block from the Discovery Building in downtown Silver Spring. This is the first time I'm glad I no longer live there.Last I heard train on the nearby red line are still rolling, but this is a very busy station. Traffic and numerous WMATA and Ride On routes will be a nightmare for the PM rush hour. |

That's Head Rush, meant to re-use old footage and get teenaged boys into science with the hopes that it could get you chicks that look like Kari Byron.![]() I think the problem with Mythbusters today is that it's using flimsy pretexts to justify blowing things up. Granted, I still learn things from it from time to time (like how potent non-dairy creamer is as a propellant), but it's not what it used to be. |

"The first world is feeding the population growth of the Third World and those human families are going to where the food is! They must stop procreating new humans looking for nonexistant jobs!"Our Asian "right winger" demands. Let's go back to federally funded Planned parenthood, Emma Goldman, et al: Sanger subscribed to nearly all of the eugenic views discussed above. She sought to ban reproduction of the unfit and regulate reproduction for everybody else. She scoffed at the soft approach of the “positive” eugenicists, deriding it as mere “cradle competition” between the fit and the unfit. “More children from the fit, less from the unfit — that is the chief issue of birth control,” “We want fewer and better children…and we cannot make the social life and the world-peace we are determined to make, with the ill-bred, ill-trained swarms of inferior citizens that you inflict on us.” Two civilizations were at war: that of progress and that which sought a world “swamped by an indiscriminate torrent of progeny.” The Birth Control Review ran articles by people who worked for Goebbels and Himmler. For example, when the Nazi eugenics program was first getting wide attention, The Birth Control Review was quick to cast the Nazis in a positive light, giving over its pages for an article titled “Eugenic Sterilization: An Urgent Need,” by Ernst Rüdin, Hitler’s director of sterilization and a founder of the Nazi Society for Racial Hygiene ***** so where do these two disagree? And what does the 14th amendment have to do with eugenics? that article is inventing connections. But, anyone want to tell me why if we have a population crisis, where Mother Jones runs front covers blaming white people for overpopulation, and Pelosi puts condoms in the stimulous bill to prevent future welfare cases, why do the two groups with the largest family's get amnesty? I sense genetic engineering on a society with that outright hypocracy. but like glenn beck, i'm crazy. if only because I've been into and reading these people decades before he has. |

I agree, I still hate how they switch back and forth b/w subjects as if the audience has ADD. I wished it was more like the pilot eps where they focus on one thing and then move to the next one. THat or they should split things into like '15 min' segments: A1, B1, A2, B2.A=Adam/Jamie B=Build team |

Military has stuff like 'great planes' or top 10. I mean it is a step up over discovery wings, but it doesn't seem like much going on there. Discovery is dead. Science channel is easily my fav for the content.I dunno if Travel is still under the Discovery network umbrella, but that channel has sunked to mostly reality shows. I miss the documentary stuff they used to have. TLC, total shit. They turned a decent network and into a women's network. If anything TLC used to be what the Science channel is. |

Yeah the wrestling on Syfy, totally stupid. With all the WWE shit on the various networks: I'm more surprised the WWE just doesn't start it's own network. Eureka isn't as good as it used to be, but it holds up ... can't really stand the others. Weeds was OK the first season or two but it got TOO weird. I never much went for those shows either ... I tend to never have the predictability of time for series type shows - I tend to do movies since the whole thing is done in one sitting and the cliffhangers (if any) are usually never worth waiting for the sequel. :)I also find commercials annoying, so tend to avoid networks with advertising unless there's an actual compelling reason to endure them. |

Yeah, Marvels and the occasional other "how it's made" kinda stuff I find interesting and usually bag a recording of for when I find a movie ending and I need an hour fill to the local news at 11 ... about all I ever bother with from Fox is Futurama. So those kinda shows just go into the video server to be watched for filler after a movie. I also have a crapload of shorts and such from the old IFC which will backfill anything less than a half hour as needed, even have old Highway Patrol, Just Shoot Me, Cybill, Dharma and Greg and Sea Hunt shows sitting on the server. |
