I believe that if we are truly to have "freedom of religion" we should allow the mosque to be built in that location (seeing as it is TWO BLOCKS from ground zero). But after reading about the imam and seeing that the structure proposed is a gargantuan structure, one can't look at it and wonder if some ulterior motive is at play. It's that ulterior motive that I am opposed to. |

Even though I don't recall ever saying that, and this is yet another of your unprovoked attacks, I do agree with the argument you pose as a strawman. The biggest possible recruiting tool available to these Islamofascists you keep pissing your pants over is the idea that we're undertaking another crusade. We've only been dealing with the Iraqis on a secular level, and we'd be fighting the whole country if it were to become a religious war. I'm fairly certain there aren't enough kids eligible for military service in all the NATO countries combined to pacify Iraq alone if they got wind that our occupation had a religious tone to it. To that end denying basic rights to Muslims which we guarantee to everyone else is an ideal way to show that these wars go beyond merely looking out for our best economic interests. If you and every other Republican candidate grasping for a few extra votes garnered from the racial fear he or she managed to stir up, want to endanger the remaining soldier's lives by breathing new life into the insurgents, then have fun trying to wash the blood off your hands. |
