You conveniently left out Afghanistan and the rest of defense spending.And any other increase in deficit has a lot to do with the Bush recession -- lower tax revenues, among other reasons, increased unemployment payments, etc. Nothing for Dems to be ashamed of, I'm afraid. |

It was not necessary. The graph shows the overall deficit being reduced every single year of the Bush administration....until 2008. That's $140 billion LESS than the wasteful stimulus bill. |

Much of this is explained here: Do notice how "recovery measures" bottom out rapidly after 2011. They are intended to be temporary measures. The bush taxcuts (if continued) however.....picture keeps looking worse..... |

If they continue the bush tax cuts, those projections may hold. If they do the right thing and end them for high incomes, and eventually phase them down for the middle class (as the economy improves) the projections will look very very different. It's all a matter of Congress deciding to be fiscally responsible or not. The current bush tax cut rates are NOT sustainable. |

The "out of control spending" is the unfunded Medicare Part D that the republicans passed, without offsets or new revenues to PAY FOR IT adding to the bush deficit. |
