PREMIERE RADIO NETWORKS' RUSH LIMBAUGH NAMED NETWORK SYNDICATED PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR AT 2005 NAB MARCONI RADIO AWARDS DINNER & SHOW

PHILADELPHIA - Rush Limbaugh of Premiere Radio Networks was named the Network Syndicated Personality of the Year at last night's NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show co-sponsored by BMI. The event was held in conjunction with The NAB Radio Show in Philadelphia.

Established in 1989, and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio. An independent task force selected finalists and ballots were sent to members of the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy in August. The ballots were tabulated by RSM McGladrey.

Kidd Kraddick, host of Premiere Radio Networks' nationally syndicated "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning" show, served as the evening's emcee. The awards dinner featured a performance by BMI singer/songwriter Delbert McClinton.

The NAB Radio Show is the largest annual convention for radio. This year's show, Sep. 21 - 23 in Philadelphia, features interactive sessions, special events and exhibits. More information about The NAB Radio Show is available at www.nab.org/conventions.

The National Association of Broadcasters is a full-service trade association that promotes and protects free, over-the-air local radio and television stations' interests in Washington and around the world. NAB is the broadcaster's voice before Congress, federal agencies and the courts. NAB also serves a growing number of associate and international broadcaster members. Information about NAB can be found at www.nab.org.

He also won the same award in 1992, 1995 and 2000.

Was America "neoconservative" then too? As I recall, those were all Bill Clinton years.....

Either 1992 or 2000 has to be a "non-Clinton" year. Depending on how you count years, it can be one or the other, but not both.

OK. Lets say 1992 was not a Clinton year, because he was not sworn in until 1993.

That makes 2000 a Clinton year.

What does the President have to do with a trade organization/lobbyist group made up a bunch of CEOs of radio and TV stations? It's the alleged "Liberal Media" that gave him the award.

That's not a surprise really, as it's more of a payoff. Rush helps the Republicans and they in turn help the NAB; the GOP Congress voted in favor of a lot of NAB's positions (killing LPFM, for instance). So really, this is like Hitler awarding Göring the Iron Cross.

America "neoconservative"? I was talking about the government, and indeed neoconservatism was on the rise during those years. BTW, 1992 was a year where George H.W. Bush was president. 1994 onwards, we had a Republican majority in Congress, with only two periods after Clinton's departure when it wasn't (for less than a month each time).

Missed the "Republican Congress" thingy again, didn't you. Democrats are not exclusively liberal, either—lots of neoconservatives in that party, and Clinton, although not fully "converted", does pander to 'em like he did (for the most part, but not always) between 94 and 00.

The Republican Congress did not begin until after the mid-term elections of 1994.

So now we are left with 1992. I imagine you will say that this was under the reign of Bush 41?

What an insult to Marconi. How can they give this guy an award(who has no personality either) and make fun of Art Bell. Bells theories are more believable with more evidence than this guys wild ranging conspracy theories. "And it's the world-wide left conspiracy to scare you and capitalize global warming".

Actually, I'm happy to see it. Rush certainly DOES deserve the award for giving his show away for free to anyone who will air it, and he HAS become one of the shining examples of radio today.

It demonstrates the penetration of Satellite radio and the iPod, pretty much leaving radio with either Rush or CleanChannel music. Rush most CERTAINLY deserves the award more so than a hard disk with 20 tunes on it. :)
