Larry King hangs up his suspenders |

King, who became an iconic fixture on Ted Turner's groundbreaking news network, will continue to do the occasional special, much as another famous journalist, Walter Cronkite, did after retiring from the CBS Nightly News.King is creditied with helping to create the 24-hour news cycle we're accustomed to today, as well as pioneering the distinctive political reporting style in use by so many other modern TV journalists. I will miss his show. |

King's show was lame from the start and got worse as he aged. He's lost half his viewers in the last two years. He should have retired 5 years ago. Best of luck to him! |

Dude had issues but he was a pioneer in some respects, I'll give you that. Personally, I'd never mention him in the same post as Walter Cronkite. Cronkite was a journalist... King not so much. |

When King moved to CNN, it was by no means dertain that Mr. Turner's gamble was going to pay off, or even last the year. Larry King is a part of CNN's success and longevity. |

Actually, the reason why Ted hired King was that share and rating were way down during those hours and he wanted filler since folks were watching the "real" networks. And so, nothing to lose, he hired King as filler. I forget who else came in for the other hour, but it was pure filler. |
