Ron Paul Wins Presidential Straw Poll at CPAC

Ron Paul has ended Mitt Romney's three-year run as conservatives' favorite for president, taking 31 percent of the vote in the Conservative Political Action Conference's annual straw poll.

Paul, a Republican congressman from Texas known for his libertarian views, ran for president in 2008 but was never a serious contender for the GOP nomination.

Romney, former Massachusetts governor and also a 2008 GOP candidate, has won the last three presidential straw polls at the annual conference. This year, he came in second, with 22 percent.

Sarah Palin, who didn't attend the conference, was a distant third in the straw poll, with 7 percent, followed by Tim Pawlenty, the Minnesota governor, and Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana.

The straw poll is not binding -- and not necessarily a good forecaster, given that in 2008, John McCain went on to take the party's nomination over Romney.

Results of this year's poll were announced just as the crowd prepared for the conference's keynote speaker, Fox News host Glenn Beck.

Bullshit. Those racist materials were published in political newsletters from his Congressional office in his name and to this day he claims to have no idea how they got in there or who could have written them. It's possible that one article could slide by after being inserted by his editor, but one after the other?

Do you really think that congressmen write their own newsletters? No policy hurts minorities more than the war on drugs Ron Paul wants to end the war on drugs and spoken about how it disproportionately harms minorities if he were a racist he wouldnít do that.

He didn't write the complete newsletter, but IIRC he has said that he wrote articles in it and that those articles had his name on the byline. The racist articles didn't have his name (or any name) on a byline, but if Paul wrote articles for his newsletter how can we possibly believe that he never read his newsletter? He either wrote the articles are allowed them to continue to be published.

I think itís entirely possible he didnít read the newsletter and didnít know what was in them. It was still a large error in judgment for him to hire the editor who allowed the racist material in the newsletter. If he were a racist I think he would have said something racist while he was running for president, people who covered him during the camping did not see a hint of racism in him. At any rate I donít think Paul will be running in 2012, I hope Gary Johnson runs.

I like Ron Paul a lot, and if he were to run for president vs Obama it would be a very hard choice to make, I like how he's very straightforward and I like that he wanted to bring the power to declare war back to congress and I liked that he was aggressive against the UN with the American Sovereignty Act... if the UN was actually an entity that nations respected, but he's against all types of intervention in foreign affairs and is big on keeping our money in our hands. He may have some pie in the sky ideals... but there are some I believe in. The GOP should rally around him they're what they need, an independent thinking who truly does care about the country and not the rest of the world.

I've mentioned it before on here....

Right
Wing
Nut
Ball

JUst to further clarify:

Bush the father
bush the son
Cheney the holyghost

So we should be clear on all this going forward....oopps, forgot that going forward is not what the republicans, RWNBs, teabaggers, conservatives, etc are NOT about.

That's what I was referring to when I mentioned amnesty. To be fair, the party as a whole is guilty of this.

It really doesn't matter since the term has been let slide so much. It's an example of anti-semitic in origin words becoming commonplace that no one knows the meaning of such anymore.

But since "marxist, community organizer, professor, president" and a dozen other words have been absurdly labeled as code words for "black", I think I'm going to go on a crazy anti-neocon crusade. Since every label being code for black for the president is somehow sane and rational thinking.
