I hear on good authority that you're a real coward offline

Didn't you say you'd like to put a bullet in a fellow subchatters head?

Yes, for the liberals, Ft. Hood has been a good thing. And based on the articles on Time, Chicago Tribune, and elsewhere, it's been nothing but an outpouring of understanding for Islam and this individual terrorist.

The US criminal code isn't the only definition of terrorism you know. It's not even the only definition used by the US government. Don't get too hung up on that one definition.

Well you gotta deal with simple disagreement like we all do. It's most likely a terrorist attack but nobody here was there. Until then it's all bartalk between us so you can stop using it as a club to hit people over the head with. It's not a good thing for anybody that it happened and it's a tragedy plain and simple. The Army needs to look at it from all angles in case the guy was a whack job (most likely) and not simply a jihadist. Probably a little of both.

Perhaps he was pissed off and did that for effect. I dunno. Obviously he was a Muslim, but was that the CAUSE? We don't know yet. There seems to be mounting evidence that he was completely crackers, and had been for a long time. But even THAT isn't the answer yet until they figure it out, write up the report, and more importantly figure out how to not allow this to happen again. You seem to be pointing to him having co-conspirators who haven't been found yet. So clearly, the case isn't closed.

I was placed on and subsequently removed from the infamous LOL. That was a good call on your part as it freed up space. There are people like Fred G trying to get onto the list for the first time and there are others like SelkirkTMO who proudly wears as a Badge of Honor the fact that he has been removed from the list and put back on more than once, a retread if you will and even if you won't. Memo to LuchAAA: Leave him on the list and be done with it. Anyway, here's my point... I am now on this quote unquote short list of people still in denial, or SID. You keep putting me on lists with apparently little or no forethought and continue to misspell my name to add insult to injury. I deny your denial of my statement at this point in time - I even stated I may need until tomorrow but evidently you chose to ignore that request. Do the right thing and take me off SID at least until I make up my mind about the matter at hand.

Army: Fort Hood suspect charged with murder

FORT HOOD, Texas – The Army psychiatrist suspected in a deadly rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, has been charged in a military court with 13 counts of premeditated murder.

U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command spokesman Chris Grey told a news conference Thursday at the Texas base that additional charges may also be filed against Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan.

Hasan is suspected of killing 12 soldiers and one civilian in last Thursday's shooting spree at Fort Hood. He was shot and wounded by two police officers at the base, and remains in recovery at an Army hospital in San Antonio. His attorney says he was read the charges at the hospital.

THIS IS A BREAKING NEWS UPDATE. Check back soon for further information. AP's earlier story is below.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Military officials say the Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 and wounding 29 in last week's shooting rampage at his military post in Texas will face 13 charges of premeditated murder under the military's legal system. The decision makes him eligible for the death penalty if convicted.

A formal announcement about the charges against Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is expected later Thursday. Two U.S. military officials described the charges to the AP on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the case publicly.

The officials said it is not yet decided whether to charge Hasan with a 14th count of murder related to the death of the unborn child of a pregnant shooting victim.

No investigation is needed because it should be crystal clear where the failure occurred (in the Pentagon; the FBI did its part passing warnings to there, but officials there sat on the information) and how it can be remedied (pass it along to the officer/soldier/NCO's commanding officer so that action can be taken on it).

In the past, I had believed General Cone had failed his soldiers at Fort Hood; it turns out he never got a chance to act because he never got the relevant information. Does Joe Lieberman really need an investigation to know what ought to be obvious?

Good advice, Algonquin J. Of course his logic for having the congressional investigation wait isn't quite clear. And certainly at no time during this obama administration has congress investigated an issue while other investigations are going on.
