I was just watching that 9 hour movie about the Romanoff's last night. It didn't put Lenin in a good light. And was he just an acedemic going to school in England of all places I wonder how popular any of these people really were if they could never get a clear majority for elected office. |

The Tsar was awful and deserved his brutal death and "proper" burial (for him). Sad about the children though. But it was the FEBRUARY revolution that overthrew the Tsar. The October Revolution was unnecessary for getting rid of him. Also, why is it that so many government offices are called a "czar?" Like Drug Czar? I know they're unofficial names but who came up with this? Maybe we should have a Drug Stalin and a Drug Mao. Or a Drug Sar. |

If it's true, the democrats originally called all their people dictators, but Hitler put that in bad light. So comrade Czar it now is.Which czars better, the ones today or the ones they had in Russia then? |

Which czars better, the ones today or the ones they had in Russia then?I don't know. Ask Reagan. He created the Drug Czar. While you're at it, ask Dubya why he had more czars then any President in history including the current one. |

Posted by SMAZ on Sat Nov 7 15:44:11 2009, in response to Re: Happy October Revolution!, posted by Spider-Pig on Sat Nov 7 13:12:03 2009. The Tsar was awful and deserved his brutal death and "proper" burial (for him). Sad about the children though.Awful as it may sound, Lenin had no other choice. Civil War would continue to rage as long as Monarchist dead-enders thought there was any chance of installing a rightful Romanov heir back to the Throne even if it were one of the children. Part of governing is making tough decisions that ordinary people don't have to make. One of those decisions may involve the death of innocents in order to end a terrible war that is costing an even greater loss of innocent life. But it was the FEBRUARY revolution that overthrew the Tsar. The October Revolution was unnecessary for getting rid of him. True but that shows that inaction = suicide. If the Provisional Govt was so detached to not realize that a revolution was brewing right in front of their eyes, they would have been too incompetent to govern a nation as complex as Russia anyway. With a crew like that, revolution was inevitable. At least the Commies can claim credit for changing that backwards nation to the Gregorian Calendar. |
