Don't worry my fellow Dago. As soon as Owens votes for that socialist health care bill his goose is cooked next year. The Republicans will have a primary next year instead of annointing a candidate and the fury against Obamacare and heavy taxes and heavy unemployment and a fractured economy will sweep Owens out of office along with 40 or so other Democrats. In 2012 or 2014 the GOP will take back control of the House and maybe even the Senate, and if this time they are not stupid as they usually are they will stay in office longer.

As far as the youth vote you talk about, many of them are jobless and have lost a lot of their fervor for Obama. They won't vote so enthusiastically for him next time around.

I used to walk into the warehouse in Fairbanks, Alaska where they had a small store in the corner of the building. I'd get a fresh King Salmon (Silver if King was sold out) cut into 2" steaks and wrapped in butcher paper. Get back to the base, fire up the grill, baste the steaks with nothing but butter, pepper, and honey, and throw em' on the fire. Heaven per se.

Pelosi announced today that Owens is supporting her bill.

Interesting that few in the media have noticed that one result of the "GOP sweep" yesterday was that Pelosi has 2 more Democrats in the House than she had the day before.

Also, in 2 states so-called "taxpayer bills of rights" to limit taxes and spending went down to resounding defeat. Doesn't sound like a repudiation of "big government" to me.

Nor do most of us. But Alan Grayson's more your speed, maybe? what with your continued use of leftist epithets . . . ?

Now here's some extremely biased media, a Binghamton TV station posting Dem propaganda as a news article . . . bask in its glory.

Democrats make history with victory in New York's 23rd district

Last Update: 11/04 11:12 am
From NYS Democratic Committee:

STRONG PRINCIPLED LEADERSHIP DEMOCRATS MAKE HISTORY WITH VICTORY IN NEW YORK’S 23RD DISTRICT

Bill Owens pulled out an extraordinary victory in New York’s 23rd Congressional District against the extreme right wing of a Republican Party in disarray, making him the first Democrat to hold that seat since the Civil War. An Air Force veteran and long-time community leader, Bill Owens represents the best of the Democratic Party and embodies our belief that government has to work for all to be successful.

Bill Owens entered this race to stand strongly with and for the people of upstate New York and to bring upstate values to Washington. President Obama and Vice President Biden both traveled to New York to show their full support for candidate Owens. Now, as our next Congressman from the 23rd district, Bill Owens will go to Washington to work along with the Administration to pass comprehensive health care reform, assistant in our country’s economic recovery, and lend his voice and experience to important discussions about national security and the future of our military in Afghanistan. Owens will continue his work to create new jobs and bring economic development to the 23rd District. He will ensure returning Veterans receive the respect and care they deserve and will serve as a strong voice for our farmers and ranchers in upstate New York, providing them with the support that they need to get the job done.

“We send our congratulations to Bill Owens for a race well run. He will be an honorable representative for the people of the 23rd District of New York,” said Jay S. Jacobs, Democratic State Chair. “The Democratic Party will not establish a litmus test for our candidates, like the one the Republicans imposed on their candidates in the 23rd. I’m proud to be a part of a Democratic Party that represents all of the working people of New York.”

The State Democratic Committee deployed troops to knock on doors, make countless phone calls, and helped to get Owens' message out to the voters of the 23rd Congressional district.

Democrats also achieved two important victories in New York City.

NEW YORK CITY

CITY COMPTROLLER

John Liu, whose historic victory in New York City as the newly elected City Comptroller and first Asian-American elected to a city-wide office in New York, will bring financial reforms and accountability back to the City. John will start on Day 1 to spur economic growth and bring jobs to New York City by investing in infrastructure, maximizing federal stimulus dollars, diversifying investments, reforming the City’s contract process and investing in affordable housing.

PUBLIC ADVOCATE

Strong, dedicated and persistent, Bill de Blasio will bring a record of achievement to the office of Public Advocate ensuring that New Yorkers have a voice in shaping the policies of their government. Endorsed by leaders across the political and ideological spectrum, Bill has the support to hold government accountable, the strength to defend the rights of New Yorkers and the determination to get results.

MAYOR

Democrats are proud of our candidate for Mayor. In a race that was much tighter than anyone predicted, Bill Thompson mounted a strong challenge to Bloomberg and his millions, speaking for disenfranchised voters across the City. We recognize Bill Thompson’s outstanding record of service as President of the Board of Education and as our City’s Comptroller. Thompson is a tireless champion for working people and has the courage to talk about the issues that matter most. Bill has dedicated his life to building a City that works for everyone, not just the privileged few.

A house divided can't stand. A party is unwise to publicly air its ideological laundry.

In a world in which Mr. Hoffman didn't contest the GOP's final judgment, the GOP likely retained the seat via Ms. Scozzafava's victory. If you're perceived as a nutjob - and it's not hard to be perceived as a nutjob when the GOP candidate turns around and calls you a right wing nutjob - you're quite likely going to lose the election.

The GOP victors in NJ and VA were not perceived as nutjobs. (Indeed, there were months of coverage in the WSJ editorial pages targeting Mr. Christie as a mushy RINO moderate who didn't have what it takes to win). The GOP loser in NY-23 surely was perceived as a nutjob.

The present habit by some in and around the GOP for picking on an alleged RINO isn't really going to pay off for at least two reasons. First, the GOP candidate in NY-23 can't be perceived to be as far right as their candidate in OK, and their candidate in VT should be seen as to the left of those in NY-23 and OK. Second, we all know that it's bluster in spots. E.g., let's see Senators Snowe and Collins get 'teabagged' by a 'grassroots' primary challenge, but that's not going to happen because the 'teabagger' would no doubt lose.

Anyhow, let's see how it unfolds in the FL race with Charles Crist. Would some rather be angry than win?

Everyone's overlooking that the turnout in VA and NJ was down from last year.

Well part of that is of course that 2009 is an odd number.

The Dem base that turned out for Obama stayed home, because they were not energized by the candidates or the issues.

Arguably that happened in VA with Creigh Deeds, but what about in NJ?

I don't know why anyone would want to be Governor anyway. People want you to spend more and tax less. The only platform that's going to get anyone there sustainably is called God, and we're not even sure whether God exists!

I've seen China on some shrimp bags at Wal-Mart.

The article in Mens Health mentioned Thailand and shrimp being born in one country, then shipped and raised in another country to get around all the legalities in labeling and other laws.

Article also mentioned how shrimp have their eyes plucked out so they stop producing hormones on their own.

Didn't you say something about jumping to conclusions in the Muslim Ft. Hood threads, yet you had already jumped to your own conclusions about this election result.

Heh. Nice stretch. Nope ... everything in there came from the local newspapers up there and other written reports by other newspapers along with a little wikipedia for some of the background on candidate histories. Everything in there is PUBLISHED fact. But do keep reaching ... :)

Heh. Believe whatever you wish ... I know what I wrote, and when I wrote it. There's a timestamp on the post too. NY-23 was something I was paying attention to since it's "local" ... it's a CONSPIRACY, man! :)
