It's probably a combination of combat syndrome, the shooter's Islamic background, and a few other things. That he was a shrink at a base at which there soldiers back from both Iraq and Afghanistan plays into this, as that may have put him in a position to be listening to troops telling their tales of what was going on over there. What's interesting is that he quite a few things to say about suicide bombers, soldiers, etc. online - the Army is (and should) be looking at it so we could know what was going through his head. All this, poor evaluations, and then word that he's about to get shipped out to the ME.Let's see where this goes. |

I didn't realize I was such an asshole for not subscribing to the true view that the the Ft. Hood massacre was done by a 5th Column henchman for Osama bin Laden, trying to undermine the war effort in Afghanistan by all means. I'll try to forget from now on that this was yet another instance of a soldier turning his guns on other soldiers on a military base (here or otherwise) - the key here being that he was Muslim. I'll try not to take any and all factors into consideration in the future, as is a habit of mine right now. |

It's just too bad that the MPs, military investigators, JAGs, and so forth that are having to stay up tonight (and onwards) investigating this massacre are going to have to take their time looking into any and all factors (what kind of stress he was under, who he was talking to as a shrink, who he was talking to while not at work and off the base, and how that affected him, what he said online, where he got his guns, etc.) that could've played into yesterday's events. They aren't going to listen to a kook like me running up to them and yelling at them that they shouldn't bother with the digging and simply call this an act of terrorism right off the bat and just hang him (which will probably happen anyway after they get through with the Court Martial.) Besides, who am I to be telling them how they should do their jobs?Oh, and in addition to Little Rock and Ft. Hood, there's also Ft. Carson. You know what happened there, right? |
