(six if you consider the renovated post-1973 Stadium seperately) Yankee Stadium, Polo Grounds, Ebbets Field, Shea Stadium, the New Place. Look, I'm not making excuses but only offering reason(s). The Phillies lost because the Yankees outscored them last night, pure and simple. I will not try to justify the Phillies lack of pitching throughout the World Series but if Matsui had not gone off like he did and if Utley hit like he was capable of and if Howard hit some more home runs instead of striking out all those times the Phillies would be holding a parade on Broad Street tomorrow. The Yankess did not win this thing... the Phillies lost it. Think about it. On second thought, the Yankees proved it is the best team in baseball and are truly deserving of the title World Champions. Anyone here going to be at the Canyon of Heroes? |

They really did fatten up on the Mets but early in the season when we had a healthy team, the Mets beat them pretty good.They'll be out for bear after the Yanks beat them but it was Phillies pitching that did them in.Relying on an aging Pedro and an unsteady Hamels.Lee was the only ace they had.No possible way you can win a World Series with only one ace.Also, Rollins and Howard did not play up to their potential.Matsui made them both look like jerks with the amazing last game he played! |
