Funny how Rove endorsed Scozzafava, only for her to drop out and endorse the Democrat.I never knew you thought so highly of Siena polls. I thought they were a little wacky last year(can you believe it's been a year already since the presidential election, those were some fun threads?). Who do you think will win NJ? |

Both Marist and Siena colleges have excellent political science courses and well-trained students who conduct the polls. And they're fastidious about both their research before conducting, and their questioning during. They collect a list of people who actually voted the previous year, and ask questions as follows:"1. Are you planning to vote?" "2. Who are you planning to vote for?" The end. If you answer no to 1, thank you very much. You must name a candidate for number 2. If you don't know, then you're "undecided" IF you're planning to vote. Doesn't get any more basic than that. They DON'T ask questions like "Would you STILL vote for X if you knew he had a child out of wedlock?" or "Would you STILL vote for X if you knew they had a socialist agenda?" or include people who haven't voted for years under the column for the candidate who is paying your bills. And although most pollsters won't push poll to that extreme a degree, leading questions don't get you an honest answer. As for New Jersey, they'll still be recounting next week. :) |

The volatility has between Scozzafava and Hoffman. And Scozzafava's name is still on the ballot.Hoffman will win. The conservatives just have too many advantages in that district. The only thing that gave hope to Owens was the fighting between the GOP party elite and their base voters, and that's now over. |

Since 1982 in that district, no Democrat has ever gotten above 38%. A Hoffman will mean nothing as to Obama - it will only help lead to the fragmentation of the GOP. |
