I'd say the pilot did a smart thing in that type of situation where landing anywhere else would've resulted in death. The crash was close enough for rescuers to save everyone in time.Heh coming from La Guardia. Rank one of the worst airports. LMAO. |

Or anything even similar.But today I was on Goldenwest in Huntington Beach and there was a very elderly woman that had gotten confused and was parked in the middle of three lanes at a red light, but on the wrong side of the road. The cars directly in front of me stopped and refused to enter the intersection thinking that she would realize her mistake and they would let her make a turn. If there had been a way that I could have driven around them I would have. |

Serious environmental issues, like thousands of gallons of jet fuel (which is lighter than water) rising to the surface. Also, the NTSB will most definitely need the airframe for its investigation. Until the investigation is completed, not even US Airways can get its hands on that plane. |

Actually, there is a stat for airline accident deaths per million passenger miles flown. The last number I can find is .0031 (2005). Hence, each successive flight without a fatal accident, raises the liklihood that there will be a fatal airline accident. Live by stats, die by stats |

For example if you flip a quarter and get tails 9 times in a row, isn't the probability that your next flip will be heads still 50%?But in this discussion the more miles flown without an accident might show that safety measures, equipment, training, etc might be getting better. That would reduce the odds of a crash as the amount of accident free miles increase. |
