I don't know the stats on the individual plane but it probably has been up and down thousands of the times without incident. If a car goes off a bridge and crashes into the river, chances are they're dead. With a plane, if flown right, should survive a water landing without much damage. In this case it worked out great, congrats to the pilot. I wouldn't be surpised if this was the third trip for that plane today. |

I eventually found my bag in the manager's office at an exceptionally small Turkish airport. The only exception to awful flights I've ever had was one from Prague to Gatwick, where I had bought an exceptionally cheap business class ticket. The lounge was lovely, and once on board, business class was virtually empty, and I got plied with vast amounts of Champagne. I suppose the lesson is to find the flight which still has a ridiculously cheap business class ticket and hope it means it's empty... |

Commercial pilots on the radio have been saying that they don't ever even simulate water landings as they are so rare. |

It was very hard work but I learned for SURE that flight crews are trained and trained, and then trained some more. I have every confidence in the competency of the flight crews, and in the durability and workmanship of the aircraft. |
