Nixon didn't withdraw troops because hippies told him to. He withdrew them because the majority of the country didn't think the cause was worthwhile. And that majority didn't change their minds because of the hippies. They despised the Viet Cong just as much in 1974 as in 1964. They just didn't think that eliminating them was a useful goal any more. |
