I am sure the Simpson ride uses the same set up. It's a simulator ride, just like a lot of those simulator rides.Yes, I am dating myself....it seems like yesterday that the Back to the Future movies were out there (1985 was the first one!!!). The first time I went to Universal Florida was in 1993, and Universal Hollywood in 1994....and Back the the Future was still a recent movie back then..... I was last on the Florida Back to the Future in 2004, and California in 2003 I think. Yeah, I know....it's a 23 year old movie now....hard to believe. |

I still remember the first time I went on it. But yes, most kids probably aren't that familiar with back to the Future. I am glad they left the train and Delorian in the park though. Is the Florida ET Ride still open? I know the California one was closed and replaced the last time I was in Hollywood's Universal, but the Florida one was still open last time I was there (3 or 4 years ago). Is ET still open in florida? |

[Never went back to that] Also across from it used to be an Alfred Hitchcock theater/props. The replaced that w/Shrek 4D. |

Yeah I figured it would be. What's nice about the Back to the Future ride set up is that even though it is a simulator ride, it's on a huge three story screen, unlike some of those other simulator ride where you are in thing like Star Tours in Disney, and you are just looking at a little movie screen.The effect of the Back to the Future huge set up was a different sort of feeling, and still far superior, so I assume that since the Simpsons uses the same building and set up, it will be good. |

Yes, I lost interest in Universal Studios in Florida, I didn't even go the last couple times I was in Orlando. Originally, I even liked Universal Studios better than Disney!But then they took away King Kong....and yes, I remember the Flintstones/Jetsons thing too....I never went on again after they were gone. I was also disappointed over Hitchcock being gone, but Shrek wasn't too bad. I was really disappointed to hear Back to the Future Closed....although I didn't have time to go to Universal Studios this past February when I was in Orlando. The last time I went was a few years ago, and got a pass to do both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios in one day. I had done both parks before, so it was easy to do in one day, as I knew what I wanted to do and what I could pass up....and wound up doing everythign I wanted to at both parks in one day. |

As a theme park, Orlando's Universal is better. But as a Hollywood's is better in other ways, such as it being a "real" studio. I was going to say the Hollywood one has a lot more history, mbut now unfortunately a lot of that has been destroyed. But it's still a workinfg studio.Orlando used to have a lot more filmed there back in the 90's, so it was more like a "real" studio back in the 90's than it is now. That is the same for Disney-MGM Studios in Florida. Taking the "backlot" tour in both Orlando Universal, and MGM Studios back then was more like a real tour. Today, it's more of a "simulated" tour, as they don't use either for filming as much as they used to...and certainly not like they do at Universal Studios Hollywood. |

Yes, I love roller coasters. Island of Adventure has a bunch of good ones....the Hulk....Dueling Dragons.... When I went it was an "off day" anyway, so neither park was too busy, so it was easy to do both parks in one day, as the lines were short. If they are busy it's not quite as possible to do that. I spent half the day at Islands of Adventure, even rode things two and three times....and then spent the later part of the day at the regular Universal Park till closing. |

I found out that Courthouse Square was originally used in Leave it to Beaver. It had been known as "Mockingbird Square" until Back to the Future was filmed there in 1985.Does anyone know if their historic "Residential Street" was also destroyed? Of course the Leave it to Beaver house is on that street. The famous "Munsters" house is also on that street. Of course it has been used for many t5hings over the years.

Oh, that is good news. By the way, Back to the Future's "Courthouse Square" was originally known as "Mockingbird Square" as "To Kill a Mockingbird" was filmed there. I don't think it has anything to do with "1313 Mockingbird Lane", which was the Munster's address, but a lot of the Munster's scenes that were filmed "in town" were also filmed in Courthouse Square. |

Yeah that would have been a shame. It sounds like it may be okay from what Easy has seen of aerial shots.It's amazing how iconic such a small area of space is. What has been destroyed is such a piece of Americana over the years. I heard there was also a fire there in the 1990's, but not nearly as bad as this one. Courthouse Square partially burned then too, as well as part of NY Street....but the courthouse was spared that time. |

On the local news they said that the same building where King Kong was housed was partially burned in the 1990 fire and that the Back to the Future Courthouse had completely burned. They said that the one that just burned yesterday was a replacement. The original fire was arson. I wonder if this was as well? |

I read that too, but I have seen photos, and while Courthouse square had burned partially, the courthouse hadn't that time. Some site I just read confirmed this. Of course, the facades have been redone a few times over and over for various movies. They will rebuild, as the location is still there.I noticed on maps.live.com, that the resdiential street is a ways away from NY Street and Couthouse Square.
