What a blantant threat to try to spark a team. Georgie knows how to spark controversy just by opening his mouth.

Let's see if the Yanks respond to the threat.

If Torre is let go,
who's going to replace him?
And will he be able to win it all next year?

There was a Washington Post article this morning that related the Yankees plight to the 10 Plauges from Exodus. I think I know what the Yankees' equivelent for the death of the firstborn is...

I'm a Yankee fan and I like the fact that Steinbrenner will pay big bucks for the top talent, but I hate the fact that he wants to act like a spoiled child when the Yankees are down. I like Torre and his managing style. However, I wouldn't blame him if he walked and told George to kiss his *ss. The team and fans would love to see them advance further into the playoffs, but I, for one are still proud of their accomplishments this season. Did George forget about the numerous injuries this season and gaping holes which still exist in the rotation and bullpen? Did he forget about the team who struggled early on and reached the All-Star break with a 42-43 record? In the meantime, Boston was winning just about every game they played. So the Yankees managed to climb from out of the cellar and give Red Sox a real challenge for the division at rhe end. These constant threats anytime things are looking bad are really getting old and again, I would totally understand if Joe Torre decided to walk away.

When I was a cop I learned you should never make a threat you don't intend on carrying out. With that in mind, how many times did he rehire Billy Martin after firing him? Will Joe Torre be Steinbrenner's new Billy Martin?
