Katie Zacharia, Esq.

Posted by AlM on Wed Oct 14 17:00:27 2026

Our new White House press secretary, says she is a lawyer. She was asked what state's bar exam did she take. Her answer: "when I moved to China."

She never took a bar exam. However she got a juris doctor law degree from Pepperdine School of law in 2011. But realistically, what does having passed a bar exam have to do with being qualified to be the press secretary? Sounds like the Democratic left is grasping at straws to somehow criticize and belittle her.

Nothing at all.

It has a lot to do with being a lawyer, however. And she says she is a lawyer - that's why the bar exam question came up. And credibility does have a lot to do with being press secretary.

Sounds like a nitpick. When she gets caught in a lie then you'd have a case. What I dont know is if you get a law degree, does that make you a lawyer or do you have to pass a bar exam to earn that distinction?

You have to pass the bar exam to call yourself a lawyer. Without that you're called a law school graduate.

Some organizations have checked every single state bar association and can't find her name.

So it looks like she's been caught in a lie.

As usual, you've proven yourself to be an il-informed jackass:

lawyer vs attorney

While people often use the terms interchangeably in everyday conversation, a lawyer is someone trained in the law (usually holding a Juris Doctor degree), while an attorney (short for attorney-at-law) is a lawyer who has also passed a state bar exam and is officially licensed to practice law.

Obviously, when Chlorine Jean-Pierre, her masters degree from columbia school if anti-semitism her race and her sexual preferences made her highly qualified in AlM's eyes.

It shall be unlawful for any natural person to practice or appear as an attorney-at-law or as an attorney and counselor-at-law for a person other than himself or herself in a court of record in this state, or to furnish attorneys or counsel or an attorney and counsel to render legal services, or to hold himself or herself out to the public as being entitled to practice law as aforesaid, or in any other manner, or to assume to be an attorney or counselor-at-law, or to assume, use, or advertise the title of lawyer, or attorney and counselor-at-law, or attorney-at-law or counselor-at-law, or attorney, or counselor, or attorney and counselor, or equivalent terms in any language, in such manner as to convey the impression that he or she is a legal practitioner of law or in any manner to advertise that he or she either alone or together with any other persons or person has, owns, conducts or maintains a law office or law and collection office, or office of any kind for the practice of law, without having first been duly and regularly licensed and admitted to practice law in the courts of record of this state, and without having taken the constitutional oath. Provided, however, that nothing in this section shall be held to apply (1) to officers of societies for the prevention of cruelty to animals, duly appointed, when exercising the special powers conferred upon such corporations under section fourteen hundred three of the not-for-profit corporation law
N.Y. Judiciary Law § 478 (emphasis added).

So she's not pretending to be a lawyer or attorney-at-law* in New York, so this doesn't specifically apply to her, but I'm sure that other states have similar provisions and don't care about the obsolete distinction between "lawyer" and "attorney-at-law."

*As distinguished from an "attorney-in-fact," who can be anybody.

Doesn't matter. TDS types will say that anything she says (in regards to her boss) is potentially a lie.

This is true of every propaganda minister press secretary, not just in the Trump Administration.

But this is just a weird lie. The Trump Administration lies about so many inane things.

Aside that we live in a society based on lies and how good you are at it, I still say its nitpicking about this bar exam thing. You just want someone that can do the job. You don't need an F.Lee Baily or Johnny Cohran type in there just to be able to deal with the media. Sure she was a little shaky the other day. But who wouldn't be? She went from relative obscurity to center stage front & center in the media shark tank.
I say give her a fair shot at the job and take it from there.

You dont need a law degree at all. Biden's last press secretary's main qualifications were that she was black and a lesbian.

To continue, Jen Psaki has a bachelors degree in communications andbsociology and looks remarkably like mark Zuckerberg. She was eminently qualified to be press secretary.

I still say its nitpicking about this bar exam thing.

Isn't it roughly the same as a press secretary saying they are a veteran when they aren't? That would also be totally irrelevant to the job qualifications.

She's not a lawyer and she said she was a lawyer. Period. It doesn't make her an evil person. It just makes her a liar from her very first statement out of the box.

But you don’t need to a be a lawyer to be the press secretary, so it’s a stupid thing to lie about. She’s like a mild George Santos, lying about useless shit.

The left only accepts lawyers. And the more public "service" the better.

Remember during Obama the press would quiz people on what degrees they had?

That's a sham shame. The White House Communications Director Steven Cheung saw the greatness in Katie Zacharia and who are we to disagree and judge otherwise.

"At the end of this second term, she’ll be remembered as one of the all-time greats,” he wrote.

The Honorable Katie Zacharia JD, Esq., told us she passed the bar in mainland China. I heard it with my own two ears and that was all I needed to hear. As far as I'm concerned, she is a practicing attorney in the contiguous United States as well as Puerto Rico, USVI, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Marianas. Once we take over Canada and Greenland and Puerto Rico and Venezuela and Cuba and the Turks and Caicos, she can practice in those places too.

The Honorable Steven Cheung
