Thread about off-duty NYPD detective stabbed, robbed in Bronx

Posted by LuchAAA on Sat Oct 3 15:52:08 2026

An off-duty NYPD detective was stabbed and robbed in the Bronx yesterday.

NYPD has good video of the suspects and the entire force is out looking for them. Probably being identified already.

It's not the police of 35-40 years ago. No "Bronx party hats/turbans" being dispensed. Also, years ago cops hung out in bars, not bodegas.

Yes, I'm well aware of NYPD bar culture.

Also played softball, Broomall, hockey, etc... But drinking was the most popular. The stories I can tell!

Yes.

I remember the Karen Read national story. And Michael Dowd in NYC. I know a guy who was obsessed with NYPD bar culture. He would hang out in bars pretending to be "on the job" or actually going to bars they hung out in.

Update Lynn, MA (Re: Thread about off-duty NYPD detective stabbed, robbed in Bronx)

Hello true crime buff handles on the OT side of things.

The suspects in the stabbing and robbery of an off-duty NYPD officer have been arrested. And they were in Lynn, MA. This is significant because it has been described to me as "the Brentwood of Boston".

Lynn, MA is said to have a great pizzeria named Monte's that people go out of their way for.

Lynn, MA came to my attention in 1985 because The Von Erich's wrestled there because they couldn't get any other arena or stadium to rent to them.

Turns out there is a sanctuary city aspect to this case that I won't get into because a long List of handles who post here can beat me in an argument. I'm not good at arguing.

I don't really consider this to be the same as the modern genre of "true crime" which is more of a chick pastime. Things like the Serial podcast and its progeny.

This is more current events.

P.S. Too bad they weren't caught in Revere. I love saying that one in the local accent.

Good post.

Women are into Laci Peterson and that stuff.

They aren't into the Brentwood or street crime stuff like this.

A California judge has denied Scott Peterson's attempt to present new evidence that his attorneys claim exonerates him in the murder of his wife and unborn son.

With apologies to the Spider-Pig, Mitch45, and the aviation savant Dave from the Metroplex, all of who are legal minds of the highest order, as well as the legal profession in toto:

Hey Scott, how about this? How about you and your legal team go straight to hell without stopping. How about that?

Theoretically, if an innocent person were wrongly convicted of a crime, they should be entitled to work to prove their innocence.

I'm not saying this guy is innocent, but this is what he wants to do.
