Posted by Peter Rosa on Tue Sep 22 13:15:30 2026 Found on Reddit:8/3: Recruiter reached out to have a screening call. 8/6: had recruiting call. Went great, told I was a top candidate and would move onto next round. 8/11: invited to next round via zoom. 8/21: had call with vp on zoom. Again went well, told I would move on. 8/24: invited to next round via zoom. 8/27: had interview with MD (managing director, presumably ). Went well. Wasn’t told next steps. 9/3: reached out to follow up. 9/4: was told that VP and MD are working through the process 9/10: was told I need to compete a technical assessment between 9/21-9/25. I provided 3 dates and times between 9/21-9/23. 9/17: no time was confirmed so I followed up with HR. No response. 9/21: followed up with HR asking if a time had been decided. No response. 9/22: reached out to the VP who was administering the assessment. No response. How are you going to have a 6 week process, invite me to take an assessment, then never send me an assessment or update? Even a short BS HR response would be appreciated. I am in recruiting hell. |

After taking another pledge to the constitution, I show up at the appointed time.I was told the orientation was on a different time than was told to me on the phone. No job. It's funny that has never happened to me ever except that one time, and considering I'm partially OCD when it comes to dates and times. The person at the office didn't look or sound like he was sure what he was doing either. |

An HR girl wrote a letter about this. Because they are all girls. It was titled, "He's just not into you". HR girls treat hiring like dating and matchmaking and that's their entire frame of reference.It's amazing american companies still function. But then I remember, they do it by H1B's and outsourcing. |

A very simple solution is requiring companies to send rejection emails to unsuccessful candidates who have been interviewed. It would not be any sort of burden. Even if a particular job got thousands of applicants there’s certain to have been a vastly smaller number who were called for interviews. |

What would be the point of this? Did he incur any expense in reliance of his possible hiring? During this period, was he prevented from seeking other jobs? If he assumed at some point during this process that he was a "shoo-in," that's his fault.As a "liberal," I support regulations, but they have to be justifiable. |

Ghosting job applicants after interviews - sometimes after five or six rounds - is both cruel and very easily remedied. Companies do it only because they know that in today’s economy jobs get hundreds or thousands of fully qualified applicants. |

I used to get a postcard in the mail sometime later.Today they can email you. It costs nothing when companies are spamming me 3x a day for their sale and their fake "ooops we made a mistake" email. HR forgets that they are the face of a company, and there are people who will avoid being a customer for life based on their interactions with all forward facing groups. HR as one. "HR", or whatever cute name they give themselves, really need to pay attention to their own training materials about external and internal customers and giving a good impression in all interfaces. |
