While @lM and the rest of the librral slug community wring their hands o er the mock renaming of lake ontario, who renamed it lake ontario?

It has been in use since at least 1639. During French colonial Canada, various other names for the lake were also used, including Frontenac and St. Louis, though Ontario ultimately became the common term."
So who is the final arbitrator? Who should be? Certainly not just the inhabitants of a modern 3rd world nation.
