Supreme Court wipes out agency independence

Posted by AlM on Mon Jun 29 11:14:40 2026

What are they thinking? President AOC will now have the opportunity to totally wipe out all regulatory tradition in a huge range of agencies. Ugh.

It's sort of weird that SCOTUS reversed on of the rulings that FDR hated and conservatives like it while liberals hate it.

"It should be remembered as an axiom of eternal truth in politics that whatever power in any government is independent is absolute also."

Thomas Jefferson
There was a reason there were no unaccountable independent agencies possessing political power when the country started.

Whats the difference here?

Or are you talking about the old Consumer Protection Bureau where Trump appoints the head, and then Schumer appoints his own head and they tried to share an office?
Seems weird.

Before this decision, they were not unaccountable. They were restricted by the Acts of Congress that defined them.
