Baltimore Oriole
Posted by cortelyounext on Sat May 9 16:53:53 2026 I saw one of these things flitting around the tree outside my window in upstate New York. Said thing sings an angelic song with pure, liquid notes that I am familiar with and which made me look out the window. After the bakery truck from Baltimore got slightly brushed on the NJ Turnpike by the United 767 and a couple Southwest jets clipped wings pushing off adjacent gates at BWI, Baltimore has a lot to answer for and Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo not running in The Preakness along with the Maryland Terrapins not making the college lacrosse tournament is not helping matters. At least, with this sighting, it is coming around by making amends.

The cats are ugly and kill all the time. They attack the baby birds because they know they cannot fly away and cannot fight back. The older cats tell the little cats to go kill the baby birds because they are afraid and will fall out of the nest onto the ground and then what? I cannot stand cats. Get rid of them.

So are all domestic animals; they act completely differently than their wild ancestors. That and, like Salaam said, they're not native to North America.
