Samsung Taylor plant |
|
|
Posted by Peter Rosa on Fri Apr 17 23:04:24 2026 Samsung is building a $17 billion-with-a-b semiconductor plant (known as a “fab”) in the Austin exurb of Taylor that will start production by the end of the year. It covers four million square feet and will have 1,800 highly paid employees. How many new factories has New York built lately? |

Even without the mafia stranglehold, construction is still slow and expensive. It's sad, because NY Metro is a great place with a good workforce. |

Seriously, did your parents have any children that lived?Of course there will be turnstiles and no doubt many other security measures at the plant. It will be a single company facility with I’m sure all sorts of proprietary equipment. It is not remotely the same as a Manhattan office building with a multitude of tenants, each with their own access controls, yet with turnstiles and security thugs in the lobby. For Christ’s sakes you’re clueless. |

"..."construction is still slow and expensive."Expensive yes. Nothing new here. But not slow. There are these huge pencil thin hi rise apartment buildings going up left and right in Manhattan charging millions of $$$ per sq foot. Economics 101. There being built because there is a market for them. |

Look up "ULURP."I don't see the lack of factories as "sadly" though. The market will not bear factories here. They used to have factories here but they went away. Part of that is unions, though, since right-to-work states have a competitive advantage. Blame Taft Hartley. |
