It's only sweeping it under the rug if you think the players being forced to participate in the performative patriotism is an integral part of the game. I don't. No one should be forced to participate and forcing the players onto the field for the anthem also forced the fans to endure their stupid protest and tarnishment of BOTH the game and our flag. |

Of course ypu are entitled to your opinion. Traditions are part of professional sports such as playing Canadian and US national anthems at NHL games. Players from both nations stand respectfully. Same with major league baseball. Even if you feel differently, players should respect the traditions that are part of the game. |

A tradition that began in 2009.It hasn't done anything to improve the game, and has only ruined both the game and respect for our flag and our country. This doesn't change the fact that kneeling is still disrespectful and if they were forced to be on the field they should stand. I'm just arguing that they should go back to not being on the field so the issue doesn't come up. |
