Capitalism At Its Finest

Posted by Fisk Ave Jim on Thu Feb 5 12:13:32 2026

Care to make out to the Super Bowl??
Bring your American Express card and any other plastic you might have.

Some sample prices:
Top ticket price is $30,000 a seat on the secondary market. Cheapest: $4,000, and you are sitting with the seagulls.

Average hotel room cost in the San Francisco area is $2,300 a night, up from the usual $500. No wonder there are legions of homeless.

Driving to the stadium, around $250 to park. Want a beer? $12 a cup. Yikes.

So, the gouge is on, but people will pay it, and that’s the hallmark of a free marketplace. There will never be a Super Bowl in China or Russia. Only in America, the land of opportunity. And, unfortunately, price gouging.

And thats not counting how much $$$ will be spent and lost with the legal and illegal gambling that goes on.
I'm hearing that box pools are going for $10K box down in and around Wall Street offices and saloons.

Yep, Money talks and it will be screaming on Sunday!

This is all a good thing! It's what the market can bear!

People (including Hizzoner) complain that the upcoming World Cup is too expensive so that fans can't attend. Well, that's what happens when you have a popular event and not enough room to accommodate everyone who wants to attend.

Clearly, the bargains are at nome. No parking fees. Food is cheap and bed and breakfast is a good deal. Best deal are the TV seats with perfect views and instant replay. Of course, if you ste like me, still pissed about players taking a knee for colin, who gives a fuck, anyway

I’m over the knee thing. Few of those guys are even in the league anymore. There’s always going to be a core of stars that last but the league cycles in new players every year. The quality of football is just dreadful at this point in time. I doubt it will improve either.

My objection is/was that the NFL allowed politics to polute the sport.

The who and when?

The Olympics is on. I don't have time for bigots and felons.

Also, the Superbowl isn't for you, it's for corporate bigshots. No human being is going.

Don't they play the "black national anthem" and raise their fists still?

Maybe they can put pali flags on their uniforms and blow up too.

When Roger Goodell replaced Paul Tagliabue, I wondered if he was related to Charles Goodell (yes, he’s his son).
