Too close to Christmas and New Year’s and not that long before Presidents Day. A better idea would be to move it to maybe the second week in August, giving a break during the long Independence Day - Labor Day gap. Instead of his birthday it would commemorate his famous I Have a Dream speech (August 23, 1963).
