Colin Kaepernick is selling his downtown NYC home — last on the market for $2.99M

Colin Kaepernick, the civil rights activist, entrepreneur and former NFL quarterback, has sold his Tribeca home for $2.82 million, Gimme Shelter has learned.

The former football star bought the two- to three-bedroom condo at One York, designed by top Mexican architect Enrique Norton, for $3.21 million in 2016, according to property records. It was last asking $2.99 million.

Kaepernick’s 2016 purchase came shortly before his symbolic decision to kneel during a pre-game national anthem in protest of racial injustice. After six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers — including a 2013 Super Bowl game lost to the Baltimore Ravens — Kaepernick became a free agent in 2017 and never played for the NFL again.

After alleging that he had been blacklisted for protesting, Kaepernick settled with the NFL in 2019. He still practices every day, hoping to return to the NFL, according to reports.

Kaepernick, who is married to radio and TV host and activist Nessa Diab, share a daughter who was born in 2022. The couple kept their marriage quiet until this past August. The couple first listed the apartment for $3.45 million in 2024.

At 1,733 square feet, the modern home currently features a home office that could also function as a third bedroom. The residence opens to a foyer that leads to a living/dining area and a chef’s kitchen with glass cabinetry.

The main bedroom boasts an ensuite bath and custom closets.

Design details include 9.5-foot ceilings, large windows and wide-plank oak floors.

The sale also includes a temperature-controlled storage unit and a parking spot, which is valued at around $250,000, according to the listing.

Past and present residents have included hockey star Derick Brassard, the rapper and tech investor Nas, and the writer Emily Stone.

Building amenities include a rooftop heated pool, a sundeck and the city’s first automated parking garage.

The listing brokers were Trevor Connolly, Kendall Estevez and Kirk Eckenrode, of Howard Hanna Elegran Real Estate; they could not be reached at press time. The buyer’s broker was Patrick Li, of Serhant, who also could not be reached at press time.

“All parties are happy. It’s a fantastic downtown condo,” said Eckenrode.
