First the Polo Grounds and then Yankee Stadium.The Jets also played the Polo Grounds back when they were called the Titans. They got the name "Jets" when they moved into Shea Stadium, because they were near LaGuardia Airport; their current stadium makes that a big misnomer; it'd only be appropriate if they were to move to Shiti Field. |

I always thought that the Jets got their name because it rhymed with Mets the reason the Nets basketball team got its name and for a while there was a NY tennis team called the “Sets." |
