NY State Police at bridges and tunnels

Posted by LuchAAA on Sat Jun 28 15:53:30 2025

They seem to have replaced the MTA Police at NY bridges and tunnels over the years.

Anyone know more about this?

A guy in my old neighborhood was a police officer at the Whitestone and Throggs Neck. He once shot at a car during a dangerous high speed chase. And, yes, he went to Catholic school.

Anyone know more about this?

Then Gov. A. Cuomo wanted to emphasize that the TBTA was a STATE agency. He changed the uniforms and painted the vehicles to resemble state police.

Uniforms didn't change. The vehicles did.

So if he went to Public School he wouldn't have shot at him/her??

Um, no!

The point is he was a cop and attended Catholic school in Queens.

My observation is that the Catholic school system cultivated and socialized generations of Catholics to be police, firefighters, teachers, or some position of authority.

Kids who attended Catholic school seem more likely to get married, have kids, and stay married.

Um, =almood

Interesting.

I figured they found a way to save money.

Sometimes they dwell at the intersection of GCP and LIE.

I was in the new academy the other day for a meeting of the Retired Sergeant's Association. A huge building. It was like a quarter mile walk from the entrance to the elevators. Too modern, seemed like a resort hotel!! Big waste of money, nothing wrong with the old one on E.20th Street.

I'm glad I went to 20th Street "City" Academy! Hop on the N express to Union Square, always took me about 45 minutes. I have some friends who tell me that they haven't seen groups of recruits waiting for the express busses on Staten Italy like they used to 15-20 yrs ago. I'll go out on a limb and say one of those reasons is making the location 2 hrs away from everyone in Southern Brooklyn, Staten Italy, Orange and Rockland counties.

many efforts in the police department have the goal of reducing the number of White cops.

Yes, and when you see groups of police gathered in Manhattan, it's like the casts of Police Academy meets Who's the Man!

Even the dump trucks were changed from safety yellow to State Trooper blue that made so much sense.
