News Briefs - Schumer and Menendez

Posted by SLRT on Fri Jan 19 15:07:24 2018

No details yet, so no links.

Schumer says "progress made but lots of issues" after Trump meeting.

Justice Department says it will retry Menendez.

But Wapo "Alerts."

Now that Kelly has admitted that the wall isn't mostly really a wall, hopefully they can hash out an agreement that calls for additional security measures that will actually be useful, add that to some DACA relief, and be done.

Justice Department says it will retry Menendez.

Hopefully that will prompt a vigorous primary challenge.

The existing bipartisan DACA bill includes every penny requested for border security., including ma8 tenance of existing physical barriers, staff and additional new technology.

A physical wall is ridiculous. Anything that waters that down is a good thing.

Reasons I hate the wall:
1. Waste of money.
2. There's these things called airplanes. Drug cartels can afford them. They can briefly fly over the border, drop payload, and fly back. The air force scrambling F16s for a dinky Cessna is a tremendous waste of resources. A scout chilling in a hut by the border can check if they're patrolling, and if so alert the cartel plane to fly back without having entered US airspace.
3. Mexico isn't going to suck forever, and if we ever go full-blown commie, all that needs to happen is the wall guards point their guns towards the US side instead, and we have our own iron curtain.

Oh Lord, you sound downright reasonable.

Except for 3. Even assuming your hypothesis, the current security is more than adequate for keeping almost everyone in the country too.

Not a wall.

Also not a wall, but 100+ miles of desert on either side

Don't know if you're still alive, but we sure could've used a wall between January 2021 and January 2025.

No we didn’t. Those people were caught by CBP, but let through anyway because “asylum.” A wall would have done nothing.

The preceding comments are brought to you by the same people who insisted that the current immigration laws needed to be replaced. They we wrong. They only needed to be enforced.

You always reply with yes or no answers and no substance to back them up. Of course you ignore the may 2025 vs may 2024 border statistics wich show a 100% improvement in illegal crossings. NOTE: I said 100% not 99% or 98%. If it aint broke don't replace it.

I don’t follow border news so I don’t know what’s going on.
