The NFL draft - what makes this a big tourist draw

I was watching Trumps major sports announcement, and I learned that the past two NFL drafts drew 800k and 600k people to their respective cities.
The DC one that was just announced in a bipartisian historic announcement is going to have 1 million people.

Can any football fans tell me why so many show? What do they do there?

Can't be correct. There aren't as many NFHell fans as they're claiming, these days.
