I've lost quite a few family members and acquaintences to covid, plus a very close family member who hasn't yet recovered from their bout with covid 18 months ago. So it's not drama, it's real. Just like those nuts who push people off subway platforms are real.

Wrong. There are many documented instances of covid transmission in public transit. The documentation is based on genomic analysis of the viruses among those infected. Indoors mitigation against requires powered air ventilation and filtration. The subway stations and rail cars have not been retrofitted.

Modern tech trains do about 20 filtered air changes an hour in every car. It's the high volume of passengers that transmits COVID viruses, even with these air changes, because of their close proximity.

Nope. Genomic sequencing determines who infected whom. They do this by the number of mutations from the initial DNA sequence to the virus in the infected people. The where is determined by asking the people to trace their whereabouts. There are countries that do 100% genomic tracing. That's how they discovered transmission on public transit. This venue for transmission has been known for over 6 months.

Also, there have not been tests to determine the flow at along every square inch along the platforms. The trains actually do not exhaust the air. Air pressure rises, when a train approaches. This vent air to a location with lower pressure. A partial vacuum is created as the train leaves. This pulls the previously exhausted air back through the vents and into the station. It's the high volume of passengers that transmits COVID viruses, even with these air changes, because of their close proximity. It takes only a single source to trigger a super spreader event. It's not the number of passengers but the probability that at least one will be shedding viral particles.

That said, I stand by my opinion that your chances of catching covid from an unmasked policeman in the subway are next to nil First off, you seem to be assuming that all unmasked policemen have not been vaccinated. I'm sure thats not the case. Follow the rules of existing science; wear your mask & keep away from anyone in uniform and nothing should happen to you. You have a better chance of getting hit by a car walking to the subway sta, or better yet, winning a million $$$ on Wheel of Fortune than catching covid from an unmasked cop.

Sure there ventilation fans, but they were intended to be used in addition to the movement of trains to clear smoke. Take a ride on the Flushing line someday thru the Steinway Tunnel. Those trains act like pneumatic tubes when pushing out the stagnant air, as designed by the builders.
