It should be a parental decision and not the govt.Parents decide if their kid can join baseball, football, track, go on field trips, participate in potentially dangerous school sponsored activities etc. That said, they should decide weather or not they should wear masks IMO. |

Parents decide if they want to take the risk of their kids getting concussions by signing them up for football, which is also a worst case scenario. Concussions in somebody that young risk a far worse long term outcome than a young healthy kid getting covid. |

Mask usage is a known, proven way to reduce the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus. Parents also don’t get to decide whether their children go to school in the first place, that’s why it’s called COMPULSORY schooling.Because children have rights independent of their parents, they receive protections from their government against their own parents. This could include reasonable measures to be free of disease. |

I didn't wear one in the Jet Blue terminal at LaGuardia and I don't wear one on the subway or LIRR unless someone official tells me to put one on. More or less correct. An elderly person with special circumstances can be careful where they go. If they don't feel safe going into a place where masks are not required, they shouldn't enter. That's their responsibility. But if they enter an establishment where masks are required and get surprised by a non-mask-wearer, that's the non-mask-wearer's responsibility. And it's under those circumstances, which were clearly implied in CMM's post, where I find it disgusting to push the responsibility back to the person who is trying to be cautious. |
