Where Is The French Ambassador to the U.S.?

Posted by Train Dude on Sat Sep 18 18:33:27 2021

Our oldest ally, France 🇫🇷 has recalled their ambassador to the U.S. over another Joe biden foreign policy fuck up. Australia was supposed to buy $90 billion worth of French conventional submarines but that deal was quashed when the US agreed to sell nuclear submarines to Austria, instead.

Selling to Austria Instead of Australia??? The article had nothing to do with that. And even Biden wouldn't confuse the 2 nations. At least I don't think so.

I thought that “Austria” was just an autocorrect fail.

Selling submarines to Austria could also be a joke about Biden’s advanced age, but that’s probably too advanced for Trump Dude.

So we scooped the French on a sale. What is so bad about that?

JBDS. If his lord and savior had brokered this deal, he would have called it being tough on China, and he would have attacked the surrendery French.

Of course. Attacking Biden takes precedence over national interests.

So we strengthen the West's defenses against China and the surrender monkeys lose some business in the bargain. What is there for a right winger not to like?

I would even suspect that the negotiations with the Australians might have started under Trump.

Austria could use them for a sneak attack on Slovakia or Hungary.

Old joke, from the mid-1930s.

A man in a military uniform is asked what his position is. He says he is an admiral in the Austrian Navy. Great laughter ensues. Austria has a navy? "Why not" is the response. Germany has a Ministry of Justice.

Incidentally, I believe the Swiss really do have a navy.

I agree. When Trump was President his focus on China was seen as a diversion from the US' real nemesis - Russia. Now China appears to be clearly in Biden's target. I wonder what he learned about China as President that he didn't know as Senator?

I was watching CNN and they said that the deal is part of the US' plan to strengthen ties with England and Australia (Anglo) and that sure sounds like something that started under Trump.

They both pose a risk to our security, but aren't total enemies either. If we suddenly stopped buying stuff from China the world economy would crash. Foreign policy toward both of them has to be nuanced, something that Trump was useless at. Someone was either his total friend or his total enemy.

In terms of landlocked countries with a navy, I think you’re thinking of Bolivia. That’s because of Bolivian revanchism.

In the 1930s, a retired Austrian admiral was actually a plausible person to meet.

Retired, yes. The joke presumed he was still active. And maybe he was Hungarian (where of course the same reservation applies).
