In the past month, 1500 have been released there. This is not quite accurately portrayed in Fred g's mystery map. Odd that sleepy Joe let's unvaccinated illegals in but only vaccinated legal immigrants/visitors may enter the US. |

This reply is for other forum members who might wonder what you are talking about.1. these are legal immigrants. This distinction means they have the same travel rights within the US as any citizen. McAllen Tx is in Hidalgo County. Hidalgo recorded a population of 774,769 in the 2010 census. It current population is estimated to be 870,000. 3. This large population means that 7,000 and 1,500 represent 0.8% and 0.2% of its current estimated population. That's why it's necessary to use per capita values to recognize how important events might be. 4. How does Hidalgo County's increase in Covid cases compare with other regions? Is it an outlier or is it typical. 5. The following chart helps answer that question. It shows the average per capita number of new cases for the US, New York State, Texas, Richmond County NY (Staten Island) and Hidalgo County Texas. As can be seen, the US, Texas and Staten Island track pretty closely since the beginning of July. That's when the legal immigrant deluge began.  7. I believe all the data show way too many new Covid cases. In fact, I believe one community case is too many. The only way to achieve this is to first have an enforced lockdown (about 28 days), followed by strict border control and meaningful contact tracing. The strict border control would require mandatory 14 day supervised isolation/quarantine for all people trying to enter. All people would include legal immigrants, illegal immigrants, citizens, and non-citizens. We will probably arrive at this strategy through a process of elimination (everything else will fail.) |
