LOL.

The Times claimed that a Project Veritas story was part of a "coordinated disinformation campaign."

Evidently Project Veritas contends not that its story was true, but simply that it was NOT part of a coordinated campaign, but was rather an uncoordinated piece of disinformation.

No logical fallacy. The Times has admitted that it made an untrue statement. Its defense against a charge of libel runs along different lines.

The part after "evidently" has the appearance of being an assumption and potential logical fallacy on your part.

It's my understanding. My understanding may be wrong but I don't see any fallacy.

The Times originally said that Veritas engaged in a coordinated disinformation campaign.

They've retracted the "coordinated" part but haven't retracted that it was "disinformation."

Ok. I think that you're correct and it's not a fallacy. However I trust the NYT only a little more than I trust Project Veritas to determine what news constitutes disinformation.
