That was before my time as far as listening to pop music, so the first time I heard that song is when TWA licensed it. So it's always been the TWA song to me.

707-*31 ❤️

I flew on a TW 707, JFK-ORD in May 1975. I suspect it was continuing on to either LAX or SFO (the arrival time at ORD would allow for a late evning arrival on the west coast with the time difference). Return flight was a 727. Alas, the 707 was in the mid-70s colors

Only time I flew on a Dual Globes TWA plane was my first flight on TW, a 747-131, JFK-LAX in March 1975. We went tech at MCI (Kansas City) due to a problem with the #3 engine. Left NY at Noon, supposed to arrive in LA around 230 PST, actually arrived around 9 PM PST, which was Midnight Eastern. Not much fun to spend 12 hours on a plane, even if it was the Queen of the Skies 😐

One of my mother's favorite groups, back in the day. I always liked this one by them (this was on a 8-track (lol) that she had) (The 8-track tapes may still be packed away somewhere, the stereo that played them is long gone)

Your contention is so ridiculous that it doesn't merit discussion. If supply continues to increase, you are claiming demand will also grow. So people will use more electricity? People will drive more? People will keep their homes warmer? All of those are ridiculous scenarios. They are self limiting.

The real fact is that as supply increases, prices will continue to fall. At some point price will be so low as to force the reduction in supply as pumping and refining become less profitable, thus establishing the "Q" point in the supply/demand chart

You’re ignoring the fact that the pipeline will be used mostly for export, so that it will correspond to an increased demand for oil worldwide.

And yes, people will drive more, etc. They’ll also conserve less. It’s not at all self-limiting.

Export is good for the US. People will drive more only up to a point. I will not drive twice as much if gasoline is half the price. Demand for energy is finite. That's why the US has a surplus.

Twice the missus and I flew TWA Flights 1 and 2 STL-HNL in first class in a 1011. One of my neighbors was a high seniority flight attendant so she worked those flights, always loaded us up with the booze miniatures when we returned back to STL! I still have several of those bottles that I kept for souvenirs.

IAWTP

I last flew them in June 1987. CLE-STL and STL-CMI (Champaign/Urbana, IL) Both flights were on ex-Ozark DC-9s, almost assuredly OZ cabin crew (TW had gotten rid of it's legacy DC-9s be then, though if the DC-9 and the MD-80 had the same type rating (after all, the early MD-80s were official DC-9-8* according to the FAA, I think only the MD-88 was separate (probably common with the MD-90, not sure how the MD-95 Boeing 717-200 fit in), then technically some legacy TW crews could have flown them, but I suspect not. F/As could have been a mixture, probably all STL-based. From C/U, I was going to NY, was originally booked CMI-STL on TWExpress (who knew what tiny puddlejumper that was going to be on) and then STL-LGA (could have been 727 or MD-83), but they reebooked at the last moment, CMI-ORD on a Britt Air (dba Continental Connection) Fokker F-27, then UA 727-222 for ORD-LGA. This was a trip that started out JFK-CLE on a Pan Am 732 (ex-Luftshansa), so the 722 looked huge after all that. After a few days in NY, back to LA on a UA DC-10.

My 4th and final Tri-star flight was on TW, ORD-LAX in August 1977. Some folks don't realize that pre-deregulation, TW had a significant operation at ORD. I flew JFK-ORD-JFK in May 1975, 707 outbound, 727 inbound.

Never been to HNL, but did love the large aircraft to STL hub. I believe my final TWA flights before they were purchased by some AAsshole AAirline were a 757 between STL and LGA and a 767 from JFK-STL. You are not seeing anything like that these days. The 757 was continuing service from YVR after visiting Alaska. On that same trip I had the one opportunity in my life to fly on a plane without an N registration in the continental United States (LGA-STL on EI-BWD).

I am not sure if MD-81/82/83 are part of the DC-9 type rating. I know with Delta MD-88/90 were on same type rating. 717 was a separate type rating.
